John Roan School Association (JRSA)

Parents of John Roan Children!
Join JRSA Now!

This is a chance for parents to help their own children’s school, and to get involved in the school as a community.

John Roan School Association (JRSA) is the parent-teacher association of the John Roan School, and all parents, guardians & carers are automatically members. Meetings, held each half term, (dates and times below), are attended by all interested parents, and parents new to the school are encouraged to come along. The agenda at meetings covers the organisation of fundraising activities, but other issues that may be of importance to parents can be discussed (such as school meals and the new school).

Fundraising

The fundraising activities of the JRSA have allowed the school to purchase equipment and fund projects for which money would otherwise be difficult to obtain. In 2005 we funded:

English Department - curriculum based display materials and learning aids (as recommended by the DFES)
Art Department - large canvasses for painting and aprons
PHSE - DVD players, digital camera and photo printer
Modern Languages Department - books for their library
PE Department - TV/DVD/Video and stand
Whole school - garden size games for inter form events and Braithwaite

The process of raising funds for the school can be a sociable affair for the parents, for instance in the successful Quiz Night with Fish Supper, and members of the association have been helping with refreshments at school events. The project for the 2006 summer term is a sponsored school fun-run on 18th June at John Roan Playing fields.

The John Roan School lottery is a major source of funding, and all parents are encouraged to join at the cost of £1.00 per month, however subscribers are encouraged to have multiple subscriptions. The form to join the lottery is in the link below.
