Unit 1: 2D and 3D Visual Communication (60 GLH)
The learner will be introduced to a wide range of 2D and 3D processes and techniques to encourage imaginative and creative design solutions.
Unit 2: Contextual References in Art and Design (60 GLH)
Aims to provide development of the skills needed to seek out, organise, select and record a wide variety of information and references that provide inspiration for originating ideas.
Unit 3: Explore and Develop Art and Design Ideas (60 GLH)
Learners will build on their experience of responding creatively to briefs gained in their chosen specialist units.
Unit 4: Produce an Art and Design Outcome (60 GLH)
Learners will produce their final idea in response to the brief and communicate the main features of their Project Proposal effectively.
Learners will also study two Specialist units
One Core Unit is externally assessed. This takes the form of a project which is set by the exam board.
Other units are Internally assessed with a Portfolio of evidence produced for each unit, which matches the assessment grids.
BTEC First Diplomas offer direct progression on to BTEC National programmes. On completion of a BTEC National, students can progress to a BTEC Higher National or BTEC Foundation Degree programme. A BTEC First also prepares students for employment in their chosen career.
